Adjusted Case Rates Could Fall Below 25 Soon
Posted 2/5/21

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is closely monitoring the Contra Costa County Dashboard to track the adjusted case rate of new cases per 100,000 population. As we’ve shared previously, we will reopen for hybrid in-person instruction for preschool-5th grade, and Special Day Classes at all grade levels, when the two metrics below are met:

  • PUBLIC HEALTH RESPONSE TO SRVUSD’s COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN

Approved as of February 5, 2021 - Our COVID-19 Safety Plan was posted on February 1, 2021. This evening, we received official notification from the county that our plan has been approved.

  • ADJUSTED CASE RATES BELOW 25 per 100,000

Could begin as soon as tomorrow - Contra Costa County reaches case rates below 25 per 100,000 population for a minimum of five days in a row.

The good news is we could reach our first day of falling below 25 cases, at an adjusted case rate, per 100,000 population, as soon as tomorrow. Today, the adjusted case rate is 25.2. If this happens as we hope, we must remain under 25 cases for a minimum of five days in a row.

More Important Information on Reopening in a Hybrid Model

  • SRVUSD is prepared to reopen for hybrid in-person instruction, in a staggered format, beginning the very next school day. All eligible students would be back on campus within a one week timeframe.

  • The exact details will be communicated out on Monday, February 8, 2021 if we meet the metric over the weekend.

  • Please note, we are still working to bring a recommendation to the Board on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 regarding bringing back 6th grade for hybrid in-person instruction.

We understand that it is Superbowl weekend. We highly encourage our school community to help us keep COVID numbers down by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, and not attending large gatherings. We are looking forward to meeting the Contra Costa County metric...together!
